School clothes fashion show
The saturday before school started, the girls decided to hold a fashion show. They shooed us away so they could get ready. They each put together 7 outfits...including nice sunday ones. While we sat in chairs, the girls came down the stairs and posed for us. They came down youngest to oldest. We took photos and they had fun, until we had to stop abruptly after 4 outfits for a fashion problem. Rachel had a new top and she discovered that the store had not removed the anti-shop lifting tag from it. And so, Rachel and I drove quickly to the store, making it 15 minutes before the store was to close. The girls never finished their fashion show. There will be another day of fashion in our home.
Summer Time goes quickly
After our vacation, time went fast.
Leah passed her permit test and went out a few times a week for driving lessons.
Rachel went right back into soccer practices for the middle school team. The practices leading up to the start of school were in the morning, so Monika was the chauffer. Only one practice was cancelled due to high temps and humidity.
Family time was spent at the YMCA. Aletta was so close to swimming across the pool by herself.
The family also ventured out to a U-pick blueberry patch coming home with 6lbs worth. It made many cobblers and pancakes.
Nathan and Monika exercised together during the lunch hour. Nathan has lost about 45 pounds since February. He ate a lot of tomato sandwiches for lunch...so it could be called the tomato sandwich diet.
Sara, Aletta and Anna kept asking how soon they could get school supplies and clothes. Anna wanted to go back to school.
There were also quite a few rainstorms mixed in to add excitement. Anna always said she didn't like the rain and noise. However, TN is officially out of a multi-year drought.
Finally, on August 2nd, the youngest three with Nathan attended the openhouse to their new school. The girls had a 2 hour day on August 10th and then went full time on the 12th.
